Recent occurrences have given Thailand a bad reputation, along with a longstanding tradition of tales about drunkenness at full moon parties, taxi driver con games, and dishonest police officers. There are times when Thailand seems to have a poor image. Thailand is still a popular vacation location for traveler’s from across the world, and it is simple to understand why despite this. You should be aware of what you should avoid doing in Thailand if you are considering travelling there. You might not be acquainted with the traditions of this nation. You may avoid an uncomfortable scenario in a foreign nation by being aware of what you should and should not do. See below the 8 things you should avoid doing in Thailand.

    Avoid touching heads of others

One of the most crucial things to avoid in Thai culture is to refrain from touching people’s heads. Never attempt to touch or place something on someone else’s head, save in extremely rare circumstances where the traveler is travelling with a kid or is very near to the other person. In Thailand, touching someone’s head is fundamentally disrespectful since it is believed that the head is the most sacred and pure portion of the body.

    Hiring cabs

Never try to negotiate a flat charge with a cab driver. It is a guaranteed way to be charged a higher price. It is unlawful for cab drivers to decline running the meter, therefore insist on doing so. If they do, however, proceed to a busy street and continue searching until you locate one. You can agree on a fee up advance with the driver if you want to hire a cab for the day.

Don’t engage in drug use that is illegal

Thailand has a thriving nightlife, which makes it easy to get illicit goods. If you go out at night and visit a club or pub, the likelihood is that you could be given illegal substances. You must take every precaution to stay away from using such drugs. Even a tiny quantity of an illegal substance might land you in serious problems if you are caught with it.

    Buying goods at marketplaces

Avoid making a cheap offer. It might be insulting. Before you start to bargain, decide the amount you are willing to pay for the item. Start negotiating at around 50% of the amount you are quoted and work your way up from there.

    Avoid contacting the monks

Monks are among the most highly regarded persons in Thailand, hence it is legally prohibited to stand above or be positioned above them. Women cannot be touched by them. Frequently, they won’t even directly hand them anything.

    Theme parks with elephants

Don’t support the mistreatment of elephants. Elephants are often brought into towns and paraded through tourist areas in an effort to entice visitors to buy food to supply them. Never do it! This is deemed as supporting the abuse of elephants, which is a persistent issue in Thailand.

Avoid wearing shoes in places of worship

Carrying your shoes inside is rude and unclean in the eyes of the Thai people. So keep an eye out for shoe piles anywhere you go and avoid embarrassing situations by blending your shoes in with the other pairs of sandals. Additionally, it is advised to wear simple sandals or crocs that are comfortable to wear and easy to take off.

Don’t remain on your visa for too long

It is clear and reasonable that you will remain a guest until the host extends a warm welcome. The concept for Visa has been the same. Ensure to reserve your flights well in advance before the expiration of your visa.

Before travelling to Thailand, there are many considerations to make the most of every day there. Once your preparations are complete, you can get ready for an unforgettable vacation in Thailand, one of the most stunning places on earth!
